Capt. VAUGHN PODMORE | SALTYFLY GUIDE SERVICE

Born and raised in Durban SA into a family of true waterman, fishing, surfing and spearfishing , it wasn’t hard for me to fall in love with the ocean at a young age. Living only minutes from the sea I spent all my spare time in or on the water. I started fishing at the young age of two, and picked up my first fly rod at 13yrs old. My first fly rod fish was a "mullet" and others like milk fish, no big deal back then but now days considered an allusive catch on the fly.

After serving time in the military I left SA and traveled half way around the globe fishing and surfing and finally found my home in Huntington Beach, CA where I have been for the past 26yrs. I got my Captain’s license in 2000 and started SaltyFly Guide Service. I’ve been an Ambassador for Simms Outdoors now for the past 7yrs and a pro-staff member for other manufactures like Hatch Outdoors, Sage, Reddington, Smith Optics and RIO Products.

Every day out on the water is a new day and there are two things I can promise my clients "that the water is wet and if they listen to me they might learn something"
